What processes take place in an industrial boilermaking workshop?

Industrial boilermaking brings together a set of specialised metal-forming processes. The main ones are cutting, plate forming and bending, and welding, alongside machining, surface treatment and quality-control testing.

Cutting Processes in Industrial Boilermaking

Cutting is the first step in transforming metal. At Talleres ECI we use plasma cutting for carbon and stainless steel profiles and plate, achieving clean, precise edges. For structural profiles we use band saws, and for parts requiring maximum dimensional accuracy we turn to laser cutting. The choice of process depends on the material, thickness and tolerances the project demands.

Plate Bending Processes in Industrial Boilermaking

Bending shapes the plate to create angles, curves and complex geometries. Our workshop is equipped with CNC press brakes that achieve precise angles in a single pass, ensuring the repeatability required for batch production. For the fabrication of cylindrical tank and vessel shells we use a roll bending machine, which curves heavy-gauge plate to the required radius.

Welding in Boilermaking

Welding is the most critical process in industrial boilermaking, as it determines the structural integrity and tightness of tanks, pipework and pressure vessels. At Talleres ECI we have certified welders working with the main processes: MIG/MAG welding for carbon steel and structures, TIG welding for stainless steel and joints requiring a high-quality weld bead, and arc welding for heavy structures. All work follows qualified procedures and undergoes visual inspection, and, when the client requires it, non-destructive testing (radiography, ultrasonics or dye penetrant testing).
